Taxonomy, diversity and ecology of microscopic algae, mainly siliceous (diatoms), trophic state and the quality of Albanian natural brackish and freshwaters (coastal lagoons and freshwater habitats (lakes, rivers, springs, etc.)

Graduated then in Biology in 1985, in the Study University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’. In 1994, sustained the Doctorate theses (PhD) on the phytoplankton of Butrinti lake (Saranda, Albania) in Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana (Albania). Since year 1985, member of the academic staff, Department of Biology, University of Tirana (PhD in 1994; Associate Professor in 1999; full Professor in 2005). Since year 1985 is member of the academic staff, Department of Biology, FNS, UT (PhD in 1994; Associate Prof. 1999; full Prof. 2005). Teaching activity deals with General Botany (lectures, lab and filed practices; 8 ECTS), FNS, UT, with the students of Biology (First year - Bachelor). The main research fields are taxonomy, diversity and ecology of microscopic algae, mainly siliceous (diatoms: Bacillariophyta), the trophic state and the quality of Albanian natural brackish and freshwater.
