Rising damp in Historical Buildings; Building materials charachterization, Cultural Heritage conservation and monitoring, Archaeometric analysis
A short presentation of yourself:
I am Laura Falchi, Ph.D in Chemical Sciences and Post-doc Research Fellow at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. In the last years I have been involved in the interesting field of study of Cultural Heritage Conservation in relation to surrounding natural and anthropic Environment. At the moment, my research focuses on the problem of rising damp and protection from water of the Architectonic Heritage and its surfaces, by taking into account sustainable and effective solutions, e.g. the re-use of old mortars and wastes for the development of new water-repellent mortars, or the study of rammed hearth material and their consolidation for their use in buildings.
My researches are based on an interdisciplinary approach which involves chemical analysis, development of new materials, statistical studies, environmental studies, study of ancient construction techniques and materials.
